3 Marion, Indiana Historical Restoration & Preservation Projects We’ve Helped
Preserving the past takes craftsmanship, care, vision, and a deep respect for history. At JG Bowers, we’ve had the privilege of restoring several iconic buildings across the region, each with its own unique story.
In this blog, we’re highlighting three standout historical restoration projects that showcase our commitment to quality and preservation.
Why Preserve the Past?
First, let’s discuss the reason why we at JG Bowers preserve and restore past sites. Its because preserving and restoring buildings, particularly historic ones, offers a variety of compelling reasons:
- Our love for restoration
- Specialized expertise
- Community enhancement and pride
- Economic benefits
When we preserve the past, not only are we scratching our itch to restore local historical sites into something useful to districts now, but we’re also combining modern business strategy, a dedication to quality and craftsmanship, and a desire to contribute positively to the communities we serve.
Our Past Projects
Now we’ll get into the restoration & preservation projects we’ve tackled:
Hostess House in Marion, IN
JG Bowers was proud to aid in the preservation of one of Indiana’s most historic sites, the Hostess House. Formerly a mansion built for the wife of a wealthy banker, it has since been preserved and restored for tours, a boutique shop, restaurant, and more!
On top of maintaining its architectural richness, JG Bowers has helped turn this historical site into a place where the Marion community and beyond can come learn and spend quality time.
Train Depot in Marion, IN
Staying in Marion, JG Bowers was happy to help with the restoration and preservation of the historic Marion depot. It stopped carrying passengers in 1956 and became a liquor store, ultimately succumbing to bankruptcy and abandonment sometime later.
However, with recruitment from the Quilters Hall of Fame, the JG Bowers crew were able to help turn this run-down train depot into a clean and timeless restaurant.
Kennedy Arts Center in Marion, IN
The Kennedy Arts Center in Marion, IN is a haven for creatives who enjoy art. Whether it’s painting, drawing, crafting, etc., JG Bowers helped restore the Kennedy Arts Center into what it was always meant to be.
It’s a place that calls back to the original Kennedy family with 8 children, all talented in their creative endeavors. The Kennedy Arts Center now invites creatives to plan events there, view other’s work, and empowers them to pursue their unique skills.
